PetSmart could bring on the Apocalypse.

This may come as a bit of a surprise to you folks, but my kids are somewhat opinionated.

Shocking, I know.

Today our 9 year old asked me to mail a letter she’d written to PetSmart. In the past we’ve discussed puppy mills and problems with animals receiving improper care in pet stores, so the letter doesn’t surprise me. Her views are a little more intense than mine on the subject, but I’m delighted she thinks for herself! My spouse and I are very proud of our progeny, so I thought I’d share. Without further adieu, I bring you Emma’s letter to PetSmart:

Dear: Pet Store owner,

You relly nead to stop selling rare animals for pets. Because of you, animals are going to people who do not tack care of them. Over 10,000 animals die pur year. Allmost all rare animals are on the vrge of Extincton because of what you are doing. You are rouning the Balanc of nacher and when you do that more and more Peopel are being killed because there is not enuf food for animals.

So what happends when all the animals are gone thear is no food left for us or the animals. So what do the animals do? Thay go into servivel mode and the only thing left is us! But thats only if thay servive that long.

Plus we nead meat and proten to servive and do you think it is fare to the animals? I don’t. It macks me varey mad and sad when animals are treted this way. If I was the Presedent that would be elegal for eany pet store to sell them.

You nead to stop or you will caues the Extincton of us and yorselvs and evrey liveing thing on Erth.

Sincerely, Emma  Age 9

Emma

Doncha just love it? <So proud I could burst!>

Extreme or not, the cause-and-effect thought process and environmental concern is there. Frankly, I’m impressed. (Also a little biased, but that’s ok. My Blog, My Kid. Get your own.)

Am I mailing this to PetSmart?  Those happy, smiling folk who torture fish, cram guinea pigs into impossibly small cages and buy from puppy mills? YOU BET I AM! I’ll post a follow up if Ems gets a reply.

Stay tuned.

Emma you are definitely a leader! I’m proud that you are willing to take a stand and you do a fine job of stating your opinion. Even if you get a response from PetSmart or not, you have informed a lot of other people of the abuses that go on with animals. Keep writing and letting your opinion be known!

  7. Skinny Rat Says:

I just love that she feels the need to advocate for the animals at PetSmart, not only for their well-being, but for the well-being of the entire human race! That child’s mind SCARES me! She’s way too smart for her age. I just love her! You’ll have to post the outcome (if any) so we can all read what kind of affect she’s had on the pet selling industry. Be sure to tell her that I said she did a GREAT job and she should be very proud of herself.

Emma was pleased as punch to see your responses. As we’ve always told the kids, even small voices can be heard. One voice tells another who tells another….
